Back up and restore data

Museris keeps your library in the app on your device. Use SettingsManage Data to make a backup before moving devices, reinstalling, or making a big change to your library.

Export a backup

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Choose Export Data.
  3. Select a safe location and save the suggested .txt file.

The file is JSON. It includes the app version, export time, and stored library data. Treat it as private. It can include characters, lorebooks, chats, prompt templates, and connection presets, including API keys saved in those presets. It does not include app settings stored elsewhere, such as your selected theme or active preset.

Restore an export

  1. Open Settings on the destination installation.
  2. Choose Import Data and select the exported .txt file.
  3. Wait for the success message before using the imported library.

Import adds the saved data to your local library. There is no merge or overwrite screen. Importing the same backup twice, or importing data with IDs that already exist, can fail. Make a fresh backup before restoring data into an app library you want to keep.

Reset data and clear thumbnails

Reset Data removes all local app data. Export a backup first if there is anything you may want to keep.

Regenerate Thumbnail Cache only clears cached character thumbnails. It does not remove character images or other library data; Museris recreates thumbnails when needed.

Share characters and lore separately

For a portable character or lorebook rather than a full personal backup, export it as an RPKG package from its library screen. See the RPKG file format for what that package includes.

Build stories your way with Museris.
